Blacks and Unions

I spoke to my friend Ben Weiner today and he characterized me as a "reformed Union organizer".  This latest Census statistic is one of the reasons that characterization is accurate.

"In 1983, 31.7 percent of blacks held union jobs. By 2004, the figure had fallen to 16.6 percent, a drop of 15.1 percentage points, compared with an 8.3-point decline for whites during the period. {+2}"

Unions have abondoned African-Americans.
