Calling for a Barack Ban

On Friday, December 1, 2006, Barack Obama is scheduled to take part in a conference on HIV/AIDS at the megachurch of Rev. Rick Warren in Southern California.  But his appearance is sparking controversy among evangelicals and they have called for his invitation to be rescinded because he supports abortion rights.

Obama was invited to talk about his views on HIV and AIDS not abortion and he plans to take a public HIV test at the conference.  He has no plans to cancel his appearance at the conference.

Barack Obama's relationship with evangelical Christianity is a red flag in his bid for the presidency.  We currently have an evangelical Christian as president and the climate we exist in today is one of eroding personal freedoms and civil rights, warmongering, and unabashed support of Israel.  It's great that Barack supports a woman's right to choose, but the tenets of his evangelical Christianity are a cause for concern.

Are we not in a situation of choosing lesser evils though, BW? I would surely take a mildly evangelical-friendly Obama over most other choices. And remember that promises made a-courtin' the enemy don't necessarily mean anything. The last guy in office proved that.

Yeah Unit, we are in the situation of choosing a lesser evil but concern is that Barack (as he has stated in his recent book) is more than just friendly to the evangelicals. I believe he is an evangelical. But, yeah, I would take him over GW Bush any day!
